Alessandro Fossi is awesome. He is such an incredible musician. It really shows how talented and skilled he is. He has accomplished so much in his career. Congratulations on the success and keep up the good work!
I was a follower of the maestro Alessandro Fossi in different stages of my life and experience. In each of them I have always found with him the right direction in which to work. For each step, a new challenge to improve my playing. The key of Alessandro’s teachings is his dedication to meticulous attention to detail, which is what allows an instrumentalist and musician to aim for perfection in his performance. He is the example of a career built genuinely with his own strengths and convictions, a model to follow and imitate.
Alessandro is a meticulous teacher, and has a specific exercise for every problem. His philosophy of music-making helped me develop new ways to practice and approach new repertoire, and to have been able to listen to him for a week has been one of the best teaching experiences of my life. I can honestly say that he changed my perspective about performing the tuba regarding interpretation, as I am sure he will change yours if you decide to take a lesson with him.
In January 2015 I went to Bologna to have a private lesson with Alessandro Fossi. This was part of my preparations for an orchestra audition coming up about one month later. It was the first time we met, and I felt he immediately figured out how to help me in my preparations. We worked thoroughly on basics, the Vaughan Williams and orchestra excerpts. The basics we did worked out very well for me, and I now use it as part of my daily exercises. I also liked his concepts of sound and style in orchestral playing. Alessandro Fossi works disciplined and thoroughly as a teacher. He is also a most kind and helpful person, and I would highly recommend taking lessons with him.
Alessandro Fossi knows a lot of different ways to solve problems. He also knows how to use alternative methods (Ultrabreathe, Incentive Spirometer, Mouthpiece, mouthpiece-rim,…) if something won’t work immediately. He knows certain things don´t come over night and that it also requires discipline and hard work. For me this combination of teacher and mentor was a big gain to become a professional musician. In the end I can just say, it was a pleasure to me being a student of Mr. Fossi.
I had a chance to take a lessons from Alessandro Fossi. His concepts, fundamental exercise, orchestral excerpts and solo playing were special experience for me to become professional. He told me how can I improve everything about playing music on the tuba. If you want to become professional, you must take his lesson.
It was a great pleasure for me to work very hard for three years with Mr. Alessandro Fossi as my teacher. With him I really understood what makes you a winner. He impressed me for the discipline he kept in order to make me a musician.
